Australian Newspapers offers online access to historic Australian newspapers
digitised as part of the Australian Newspapers Digitisation Program. This free
service currently contains over 2.2+ million out of copyright, newspaper pages
from all Australian states dating from 1803-1954. New digitised pages are being
added each week. Currently 55 titles are online with 23 million articles
available to full-text search. By 2011 over 40 million articles will be
available. This site is fully searchable and offers many search options. Search
results can be refined using filters. Read the online help to refine your

NewspapersOverseas The following subscription newspaper sites
are available through the National Library of Australia
eResources. Residents of Australia can apply to the National Library of
Australia for a Library
Card and this will enable them to access the following newspaper
sites and a wide variety of other subscription sites from home for
free. The eResources page has an online video that explains how
to access material. New 17th-
18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers. This
collection of newspapers, pamphlets, and books gathered by the Reverend Charles
Burney (1757-1817) totals almost 1 million pages and contains approximately
1,270 titles.
19th Century British Library Newspapers
offers full runs of national, regional and local 19th century
British newspapers. Part 1 includes 49 titles (over 2.2 million pages), selected to
reflect the social and political developments of the times in which they were
published. Part II includes 22 additional titles (1 million pages) and aims to
increase the range of English regional newspapers and expand the political
views it represents. A List of Titles, places covered and date range for
parts I and II is available.
Times Digital Archive
1785-1985 has millions of articles from the London Times. The entire
newspaper is captured, with all articles, advertisements and
illustrations/photos divided into categories to facilitate
searching.
The Illustrated London News Historical Archive
1842-2003 provides complete access to every issue of this illustrated
newspaper for a period of 160 years. The contents are fully searchable, and
users can browse individual issues, including specials and supplements.
Ireland Irish Newspaper Archives
. This subscription site offers access
to over 6 million pages from Irish national and regional newspapers. A free
keyword search is available and fees apply to access to digitized copies of the
newspapers. Australian residents can access this site for free from home through the National Library of Australia
