Family History Archive by Brigham Young University is an online collection of digitised family history books (13,000+), serials (990+), oral histories (380+), gazetteers (23+) and more. This great free resource offers many search options including full text searching.
Australian Periodical Publications (1840-1845). This site, by the National Library of Australia, provides access to digital copies of Australian serials. Currently over 70 titles are available.
Internet Archive offers free access to a vast digital library of archived websites, digitised books, images, audio and music. Check for online versions of historical books of interest.

box Full view only you can access full online
versions of books and magazines including many out of copyright historical
titles.
Internet Library of Early Journals. Digitised 18th century journals include The Annual Register, Gentleman's Magazine and Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. 19th century journals include Notes and Queries (covers genealogy), The Builder and Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine.
GovPubs. The Australian
Government Publications Guide to
publications, such as Acts, Hansards, Gazettes and Parliamentary Papers, located
in Australian libraries or available on the Internet.
NSW Law Almanacs. The entire collection of New South Wales Law Almanacs 1886 to 2008 (not published 2002) is online. There is a site search engine which searches across the collection or individual Almanacs can be downloaded as PDF files.
The Navy List is
available online from 1905-1979. This
publication contains details of the officers of the Australian Navy.
Additional editions of Navy Lists will be added as the 30 year disclosure
period expires.
State Library of Western Australia has digitised the Police Gazette of Western Australia 1876-1900. They are online and are fully text searchable. Information can be found under various headings: apprehensions; police appointments, dismissals, discharges, promotions, resignations and transfers; tickets of leave, certificates of freedom, and conditional pardons issued to convicts; physical descriptions of prisoners; deserters from military service and merchant vessels; escaped prisoners; expirees leaving the colony; inquests; licences (publican, gallon, eating, boarding and lodging houses, railway refreshment rooms, wine and beer, colonial wine, spirit merchants, club, wayside house, packet and billiard table - name of licensee, name of hotel etc and town or district given); missing friends; prisoners discharged; people tried at Quarter Sessions; special inquiries; stealing in dwellings; and warrants issued.
